The Shop

We'll be opening inside this waterfront building that has The Backyard Texas BBQ on the first floor and Mediterraneo on the second floor. We'll be on the ground level inside the entrance and on the right. As soon as we finish the inside we'll post some photos.

Loreto's Very Own Fly Shop

There's an ever-increasing number of fly anglers that come to Loreto for our great fishing. We're here to offer them service and support. From flies to leaders and lines, flyrod rental and charters, we've got what you need to keep fishing.

We'll be open from June 11th through August this season on the Malecon inside Medeterraneo Restaruant.

Come in and check out our selection of tried and tested locally made flies. We're fishing our waters almost every day and we constantly gather information on what to put into our patterns. They are ever-evolving designs and based on whats working to catch the fish for the current season. We carry flies for bluewater, inshore and esturary applications. If you'll be fishing in other areas of the Baja, we have flies that you can use- from Loreto to the Gordo Banks to Magdelena Bay, we have it covered.

The Current "Hot Fly" List

This list will continue to change as its a brief list of what is working well right now to catch the species we're targeting now. See our fly fishing report for more details on the fishing and conditions. At this time you really only need these two flies to catch dozens and dozens of Dorado per day.

The Bull Candy is a design of Southern California surf and inland water guide Lee Baermann who brought it to us four years ago. This fly to bull Dorado, or all dorado for that matter, is like candy to a kid, hence its name. It is a fly that when fished on a heavy line will also take Yellowtail, Cabrilla and Pargo. The olive version is a favorite of the Roosterfish. Pretty soon we'll have a Clouser version available.

The Mylar Popper is a perfect choice for Dorado. This fly can be fished on floating or sinking shooting head. When stripped quickly its action pushes the water which coupled with the flash attracts Dorado. This may be a flying fish imitation but sardinas will also jump out of the water when persued by game fish. We coat this fly in several layers of epoxy making a very durable fly. We have taken over 35 fish on one of these flies.
