Ground transport between the San Diego and Tijuana airports costs $15 USD each way and is serviced by Crucero-USA. Their schedule of service from San Diego that will make it to catch the Tijuana to Loreto flight is here. Crucero-USA’s schedule from Tijuana’s airport to San Diego is here.

ABC buses leave the Tijuana central bus station (Terminal Central de Autobus) at 12:15 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m daily for an 18-hour bus trip to Loreto. Cost is a little over $100 USD one way. Aguila bus lines leaves Tijuana at 9:00 pm and arrives in Loreto at 3:00 pm. Phone number for the Tijuana bus station is 011 52 664 104-7400 (ext 1 for information or reservations in English). The message machine will answer in Spanish but eventually an English speaker will answer.

Options to reach the Tijuana Terminal Central de Autobus:

Taxi from the Mexican side of the San Ysidro border crossing (about $10usd) and are lined up at the end of the sidewalk area.

The Blue line of the San Diego trolley system goes from Old Town, SD, downtown SD, the Amtrak Station and San Diego airport to the border. Walk across the border to the taxis.

Greyhound bus from the Greyhound terminal at Second and Broadway (near Amtrak and San Diego Airport), SD to the TJ Central de Autobus, every half hour. Roundtrip is $15.50usd.

San Diego city bus #992 from the SD airport departing both air terminals approx. every half hour to downtown SD across from the Greyhound station for approx $2.50usd. Then Greyhound as above, or trolley and Tijuana taxi as above.


Driving to Loreto

Many 1000s of travelers drive personal vehicles to Baja and Loreto. The drive is a little over 700 miles or 18 hours from San Diego. It helps to make one overnight stop to keep alert on the windy road and to enjoy the scenery. Recommended stops are El Rosario or at Cataviña.
