LIST OF THE CURRENT HOT FLIES (as of June 25, 2009) This is a brief list of the flies that are working RIGHT now. Larger images can be viewed here and we make and sell them in our fly shop in downtown Loreto.
The Bull Candy is designed by Southern California surf and inland water guide Lee Baermann who brought it to us four years ago. This fly to bull Dorado, or all dorado for that matter, is like candy to a kid, hence its name. It is a fly that when fished on a heavy line will also take Yellowtail, Cabrilla and Pargo. The olive Clouser version is a favorite of the Roosterfish.
The Mylar Popper is the dry fly for saltwater fly fishermen. This fly will stay at the surface when fished a floating line and will pop when stripped. The action and the flash attracts Dorado. The popper can also be fished with a shooting head or a sinking line. To keep it at the surface strip quickly and to keep it a couple of feet below the surface strip more slowly. Our poppers are super strong and have been known to have taken over 35 Dorado before being retired.
