FISH & WEATHER REPORTS SUMMARY |
June 26, 2010: A nice 30 pound class Roosterfish caught on the fly while using the teasing method to bring the fish to within casting range.

Monday; July 5, 2010
In a nutshell- Yellowtail are still consistent from off the bottom in several bajos for the conventional anglers. Limits are still obtainable if you can pull in five 40 pound Yellowtail. Jack Crevalle have been feeding along the malecon all month long and have been entertaining the fly and light tackle fishermen. Roosterfish have been biting lures, live bait and flies and have been large weighing in at over 30 pounds. Fly anglers in keeping with tradition are teasing in roosterfish to within casting distance in order to properly cast to them and not troll (trolling is not acceptable for fly fishing). LIST OF THE CURRENT HOT FLIES (as of July 5, 2010) This is a brief list of the flies that are working right now.
The Bull Series This is really all you need and in fact they look so much like our local bait that they will be used in research! Sometimes the tan/white works best and sometimes its the olive/white. The Bullclouser allows these patterns to dive even deeper...Shown from top to bottom: Bullcandy in olive/white and tan/white Bullclouser in olive/white and tan/white

The Bull Candy is designed by Southern California surf and inland water guide Lee Baermann who brought it to us six years ago. This fly to bull Dorado, or all Dorado for that matter, is like candy to a kid, hence its name. It is currently fooling Yellowtail, Cabrilla, Pargo, and Roosterfish.
